Bit rot

Unravelling one of the many vulnerabilities existing in digital landscapes,
Bit Rot refers to digital corruption and decay. Digital images of the corporeal aspects are printed in silk and then deconstructed thread by thread. Embodying trace and erasure, the expressions are reminiscent of our physical barriers and infiltrating digital screens. The aesthetics of frayed threads recalled the story of Odradek. The cares of a Family Man by Frank Kafka, is a novel that describes the protagonist's ontological grapple with Odradek, an elusive textual/textile being. Made up of a star-shaped spool, with only gathered and tangled threads, and wooden cross bars/rods that signify movement; in its ambiguity Odradek threatens the patriarch's position with subversion. (Kafka 1919).
